Dasar dari penyelenggaraan mos

1.       Surat Edaran Dirjen Dikdasmen Depdikbud No.5181/C/MN/1998, tentang kegiatan hari-hari pertama siswa baru SLTP dan SLTA

2.       Surat Keputusan Kepala SMK Negeri 8 Semarang No: 420/405./2011 tentang Pembentukan Panitia Penyelenggaraan Masa Orientasi Siswa Baru SMK Negeri 8 SemarangTahun Pelajaran 2011/2012

Tujuan dari pelaksanaan MOS ini diantaranya ialah untuk Memahami Visi, Misi dan Tujuan SMK Negeri 8 Semarang,  Melatih Kedisiplinan Siswa, Mengenal SMK Negeri 8 Semaran,Memantapkan siswa dalam mengikuti pendidikan di SMK Negeri 8 Semarang Meningkatkan semangat belajar siswa
